I don't think I'm cooking this year. I may just take it easy. It's always just me and Mel anyway. And he'd rather have pizza!
I am doing a small dinner for 8 with my best friend Marian. She is cooking ham, I am cooking turkey. We are eating Wed evening. I plan on setting a nice table with candles etc. I am very Thankful for family and friends. Our son is leaving home 2 weeks after Thanksgiving for 2 years, so it will be a celebration / farewell party! ♥ Blessings to you Regina :)
Traditional T-giving with Southern recipes this year: Turkey with orange glaze and savory sausage dressing, potato salad, green beans, corn, mac & cheese, a roast, sweet potato pie, and a fabulous pound cake (recipe by Warren Brown - CakeLove).
The girls and their hubbies will come over, we'll send over goodie plates to our senior relatives and friends. I'll watch football, snooze, and listen to old-school R&B. My wife and daughters will watch a DVD or Movie On-Demand. We will give thanks. Then some light-hearted laughter and talk about the goings on in the community and at church.
That's our holiday routine. You just substitute Bar-b-que & grilling or passing out and opening gifts as the variable for other holidays.
Hi Regina! Almost a 20pound turkey here in the freezer waiting to be cooked yet. I will try to get some pictures to put on my food blog.
My plans are all set... pack stuff, get in car and drive to my parents house ;)

My inlaws are coming for the entire week.
Hubby does all the cooking - huge turkey just waiting! YUM YUM YUM!

Oh yes I have been doing some planning. We are going to do Thanksgiving with my brother and his family and so we are going to each do half of the meal.
This year I am thankful for time with family.
well..I will be coming this weekend. I havent done any shopping yet...hope your family have a nice one...I'll be home as usually inviting the others ova.

Regina this will be the first Thanksgiving away from home for hubby and me and I am not feeling it.
I have always cooked the traditional southern dinner: Collars Greens, Turnips,Fresh Peas ,Butter Beans, Corn, Mac& cheese ,Turkey & Dressing, Bake Ham, Banana pudding, Red Velvet Cake and Potatoes Salad.
We have about 30 people over. Watch football then I put my Christmas decoration up. I don't want to think about not being at home. But I am thankful for life in general.
We always have dinner out at my auntie's house...a huge spread with turkey, ham, brisket, mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, dressing, greens, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potato pie, sock-it-to-me cake, and my contribution...german chocolate cake...
Way too much to eat...but it is being surrounded by my family that I love so much...I can't wait!

I was online looking for new and different Thanksgiving recipes and came across one for barbeque turtle!! *LOL*
I didn't know folks down South made turtle on the holidays....
Ummmm...I won't be trying that recipe.

I have a small gathering and most are vegetarians so I make a Tofurkey tofu turkey. Unusual but it works.
I am thankful for another year and of course, I have this experience all over again when my birthday rolls around.

They only allow me outside on the grill. So that would be wife cooking with daughters as sous chef washing dishes and receiving some of that Titus 2 input that you earlier blogged about.

For one thing I am grateful that i finally found you again!
You dropped in on me a couple of weeks ago and I have been searching for you ever since.
As for thanksgiving here at my house. All of our kids are grown and live far away.
So for the last few years we usually go out to a nice buffet.
This year I may even be by myself so that my hubby can can get off the road and be home for Christmas.
I use to really miss the big family dinners at thanksgiving. But, now I have gotten use to our new routine and let me tell you it's not so bad.
I might fix a few of our favorite things to have around for snacking. But it's really nice to just enjoy a relaxing quiet day with no dirty dishes!!

I haven't even gotten out to the grocery store as of yet so I'll be out in the crowd this weekend shopping. I'm just cooking for my family of 5 plus my parents are coming over other than then we normally have one or two other guest pop out which is fine because we always have plenty to go around when we cook. My mom is doing the cakes and pies I'm not to big on baking. Turkey with cornbread dressing, ham with brown sugar and pineapple glaze, collard greens, yams, baked mac N cheese and chicken spaghetti will surely be a part of our feast.
p.s I have an award for you on my random day.
My cousin does Thanksgiving and I do Christmas. Can't wait to eat her dressing...her's is the best!
Thanksgiving is not the same without candied yams. Yummy!
One year I baked a turkey breast and all I heard was how my husband felt cheated. So, it's the traditional bird in our house.
I'm so thankful to God for my family and our health!
